In 2006, I began working for M.D. Descant Construction as a secretary. My duties included filing, typing contracts and purchase orders, preparing documents for bid day and answering the phone. I left for 1 1/2 years. Upon my return in 2012, my responsibilities now include: payroll, payroll taxes, 401k retirement plan, employee health & benefit insurance and miscellaneous accounting. I enjoy my job with the company because it is a fast pace work environment and at the same time, family oriented. I learn something new everyday.

I began my construction career as a 14 year old laborer during the summer months with M.D. Descant, LLC. I continued to work summers through high school and college.
In 1986 I received a B.S. in Construction Technology from L.S.U. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At that point I began my professional career working with my father and three brothers for M.D. Descant, LLC.
Over the past 30 years I have been involved in various parts of this business.
I am married and have two sons.

My present duties are comprised of the following: accounts payable, accounts receivable, estimating, scheduling, insurance, bond renewals, audits, 401k retirement plan, payroll, payroll taxes, year-end financial statements, Ordering project materials, job cost reports and assisting other office personnel.

During high school and college I spent my summers working for my dad’s construction company. I worked as a laborer, operator and carpenter’s helper. I didn’t realize it at that time how valuable this experience would serve me in the construction business.
Upon graduating in 1975 from L.S.U. With a B.S. In Kinesiology, my dad offered me a position with his company that I couldn’t refuse. These past 40 years I have come to the realization that I am a hands-on partner in this LLC. Unlike most people after this many years in the business, I wake every morning excited to go to work. I guess you can say ‘construction’ is in my blood.

I began my construction career working for M.D. Descant, LLC the summer of 1995 as a laborer and continued this role every summer until graduating from college. Upon graduating from L.S.U. in 2003 with a degree in construction management, I had the opportunity to work for two large construction companies in Dallas, TX and New Orleans, LA. I moved home in January 2013 to begin work with my dad and uncles. Currently my roles include estimating, project management and pre-construction services for various clients. It has been a great honor and challenge to work at M.D. Descant, LLC in continuing the legacy my grandfather started in 1964.
I am married to my wife Megan and have two children; Anna Grace and Will.

I began working for my father’s company during the summer of high school and college as a laborer. Upon graduating from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1981, I continued to work in the field for my father’s company eventually as a project superintendent. Upon moving into the office as project manager and then estimating, I have both estimated and project managed numerous projects from inception to completion. I feel blessed to work in a successful family business which is focused on doing things the right and honest way as taught to us by our father.
